An anchor of the Oakland Raiders DEF, Alzado had denied use of performance enhancing drugs for entire career. It was this iconic issue of Sports Illustrated where two words answered the often asked question of his steroid use: "I LIED".
Alzado was one of the first major US sports figures to admit to using anabolic steroids and the catalyst for the league's drug testing policy going forward.
